Set up of two by appointment-only diagnostic centres
As a containment measure against the spread of #covid19, we inform that, by request of the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Health Authority, Cascais City Council will install and operate two laboratorial diagnostic facilities in order to carry out tests for the entire population of the Municipality, if necessary.
The tests will be undertaken by two laboratories, Germano de Sousa and Joaquim Chaves. The tests will be free, with costs underwritten by the National Health Service and by Cascais City Council. They will be performed by appointment (contact information will be given out soon). “In order to avoid large numbers of people”, alerts Carlos Carreiras, mayor of Cascais, people will be subjected to a test on arrival.
The first test will be undertaken by the local Health Centre in order to determine who meets the criteria of the laboratorial diagnostic, either due to presenting symptoms of the illness caused by #covid19 or if there was contact with someone infected.
Only in those cases, and with a medical prescription, will the laboratorial diagnostic be undertaken. In cases where quarantine is prescribed, 1000 beds were set up by City Council. HERE
