Farol Museu de Santa Marta
Português | Français | Castellano
The Santa Marta Lighthouse Museum is set in the lighthouse and fort with the same name, as a result of a partnership between the Municipality of Cascais and the General Staff of the Portuguese Navy. The refurbishment works took place in 2006 promoting the redevelopment and conversion of the Fort and Lighthouse in Santa Marta to an area of culture and leisure, maintaining its coastal signalling.
Unprecedented in the country, the Lighthouse Museum offers an exhibition space created in the old lighthouse keepers' residences and which is divided into three parts: two core exhibition areas and an auditorium. The visitor also has access to the large platforms (the old fort’s batteries) overlooking the sea and reception areas, the documentation centre and coffee shop.
